Watercolor Landscape Collage
4th & 5th Grade
Objectives:
Students will collage simple shapes created from painted pieces to create a landscape.
TEKS:
- Perception. The student develops and organizes ideas from the environment.
- Creative Expression. The student expresses ideas through original artworks, using a variety of media with appropriate skills.
- Historical/Cultural heritage. The student demonstrates an understanding of art history and culture as records of human achievement.
- Response/Evaluation. The student makes informed judgements about personal artworks and the artworks of others.
Materials:
White 9 x 12 paper
9 x 12 watercolor paper
Watercolor paints
Glue
Paintbrush
Collage Landscapes:
- Paint a color gradation onto your 9 x 12 white paper to represent the sky
- Divide the watercolor paper into 3 sections, and paint with different color blends (one for grass, mountains, water, etc.)
- Put them all on the drying rack
- When dry, tear shapes out of the small color blends
- Arrange shapes to create a landscape on the 9 x 12 paper
- Glue shapes down to paper
